Happy Puppy Tails

We're still doing adoptions! We can only take E-mail requests, however. Please e-mail us at thunderwolf@hot.rr.com

We'd like to welcome back director Frongillo and introduce director Brown to our staff. PLEASE EXCUSE OUR DUST! We're undergoing a complete overhaul/ renovation to all our systems and operations. We're not sure when the 100,000.00 operation will be able to be completed. Any and all donations will certainly speed up the process. We're sorry, but due to the above mentioned renovation and lack of staff we are temporarily closed to any incoming pets. All pets for adoption ARE STILL FOR ADOPTION, but we will only be able to take E-MAILED requests. We just don't have the staff to return phone calls. Lost pets can be reported by E-mail or Fax. We DO NOT take in stray pets, but often know of pets that have been found. By law, only the local animal control agencies take in strays. When we come back, we'll have a brand new website for you. We're totally remodeling to better serve our pets and our community. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND CONTINUED SUPPORT.

Here's one of our former abuse cases

She's living proof that miracles do happen
Allow me to introduce Peanut. This is Peanut TODAY.
When Peanut first came to us, she was not expected to live. She had been abused, and thrown from a moving vehicle. Her injuries were so severe that she could not urinate or defecate on her own. You see, her pelvis was broken and was pressing on her spine. Her legs were broken and her hip was snapped completely off. We took her in for surgery, and we did follow-up care and physical therapy for her. We had to manually express her bladder for the first few months she was with us, but finally, as she healed, she began to go on her own. This is Peanut as she looked when she first got here,, complete with Xrays of her injuries.
This was Peanut's first day with us.
Here she is after her operation.
So, you see,,, MIRACLES DO HAPPEN!

Who We Are

We are a small "Mom and Pop" shelter operation. We started out with two foster cats and grew from there. We are an official 501(c) non-profit organization. We formed this shelter in response to problems we saw in our area. We often times save pets that everyone else has given up on. We have had pets that have needed extensive surgery after abuse or have needed 24 hour nursing. At this time we have an extensive list of foster homes plus the pets that are cared for by us. Our veterinary needs are served by Aztec Pet Hospital and we HIGHLY reccommed them for everyone (not just those who adopt from us). We will have a FAQ's (frequently asked questions) section soon. We have only one individual who does admin work at this time. There are several things we take a serious stance on. Declawing of adopted cats is not permitted. If you are planning to declaw, (please research and give your decision an enormous amount of thought before hand)please adopt a pet from a KILL shelter. Our stance on declaw is simple... The procedure is cruel AND it can/does lead to lifetime complications for the kitty and sometimes the owner. Our cats have come under OUR protection and we OWE it to them to protect them from this too. I'm told "that's just your opinion".. yes, it is my opinion. I've done the research,, I've SEEN THE SURGERY first hand, and I run this shelter. Case closed. Please,, go to http://www.declawing.com/ or http://declaw.lisaviolet.com/ and read some of the research there before making this life-long decision. All pets adopted from our shelter MUST come BACK to our shelter if they can not be kept by the ORIGINAL adoptive family. It's in our CONTRACT. We do not charge a surrender fee for this. We also feel very strongly about abuse. We have adoption fees and contracts to try to avoid a situation where any of our pets might be mistreated. We do this in honor of Fancy, a kitten that was adopted from us and BEATEN TO DEATH. Thank you for understanding.
